He married first in Chilmark 11 April 1723 SARAH CLIFFORD, [3] daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Mayhew) Clifford. Sarah Clifford was born in Hampton, Rockingham Co. NH 4 March 1704/5; [4] died in 1737. David married second 30 October 1738 MARY (RIPLEY) MACKELROY, daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Jenkins) Ripley, and widow of William Mackelroy. [5]

Jacob Clifford m. Elizabeth Mayhew, daughter of John Mayhew and Elizabeth Hilliard. Elizabeth Mayhew was b. 1677, and d. 16 July 1729 at Chilmark MA.
- John Clifford (1646-1719) was son of John Clifford and Sarah _____. John Clifford (father of John b. 1646), was son of George Clifford. John Clifford (1646-1719) m. Sarah Godfrey, b. 15 May 1642 in Hampton, d. 25 July 1694 in Hampton, daughter of William Godfrey, Deacon, and Margaret _____.
