177. JONATHAN 4 DUNHAM (Jonathan 3,2 John 1) [second son of Jonathan 3 named Jonathan] born in Edgartown 1691-2; [1] died in Edgartown near 13 February 1745/6. [2] Jonathan married in Edgartown 11 February 1718/19 JUDITH LUCE, [3] daughter of Robert and Desire (--) Luce. [4] She was born 22 July 1689, died before 1745/6.[5] Jonathan 4 and Judith resided in Tisbury and Edgartown, and both died in Martha’s Vineyard, Dukes County, Massachusetts.

i. RUTH 5 DUNHAM, b. say 1720 m. Gideon Cartwright, son of Edward Cartwright and Ruth West
They moved to Windham, Ct. bef. 1753, and later to Hampton Ct. where he was admitted to the church in 1759.

343. ii. JONATHAN 5 DUNHAM, Jr., b. between 1721-1724, as he must have been 21 to administer his father’s estate in 1747.
In Dukes County Deed 7:510 he is called “of Salisbury, Conn.” When he sells “a certain tract of land in Martha’s Vineyard…together with the house, being that my father Jonathan Dunham deceased built…”, dated 27 Nov. 1747.
