LINE of NATHANIEL DUNHAM of WRENTHAM, MA and HEBRON, CT
SECOND GENERATION IN AMERICA

2.  NATHANIEL 2 DUNHAM (Thomas 1), born ca. 1665; died at Hebron, Tolland County, CT 12 May 1751, age 85.  He married MARY (unknown) who was born about 1669 and died at Hebron, CT 5 Feb. 1756/7.  They are both buried in Gilead Cemetery, Hebron, CT.

It is unclear just where Nathaniel 2 Dunham was born.  His father, Mr. Thomas Dunham, was witness to a deed, which was recorded 24 May 1666 for the sale of land in the Sheepscott region. [1]  Nathaniel 2 Dunham may have been born there, and it is likely that he was living with his family in Sheepscott, Maine prior to King Philip’s War in 1675.  We do not know exactly where Nathaniel met and married his wife, but since his children were born in Wrentham, Norfolk County, MA, he was likely living somewhere in Norfolk County between 1685 and 1690.

It is also unclear just when Nathaniel 2 Dunham and his entire family moved to the new town of Hebron, CT.  Hebron was incorporated in 1708, but early settlement was slow.  However, the Town of Hebron Vital Records from the Barbour Collection show the marriages of all five sons of Nathaniel beginning with the marriage of Thomas 3 Dunham in May of 1721.
